Many of my new clients come to me frustrated. By the time they check out BDx Fitness, it isn’t their first attempt at getting healthy. Many of our clients come to us after trying other gyms, trainers, and diets. They keep trying new things because nothing seems to be getting them the results that they want.
The truth is that health and fitness is about a lot more than showing up at the gym a few days a week. Of course, it is important to exercise, but this isn’t the only piece to the puzzle! Here, I will talk about factors inside the gym that can affect your health and fitness, as well as your ability to reach your goals.
Of course, getting active is one of the first steps in improving your health and fitness. But, just doing anything is not the smartest approach, especially if you have specific goals that you want to reach. Here are a few things that you need to consider in the gym to make the most of your workouts.
- Just because something is hard, doesn’t mean it’s the “best” workout. Sure, we all feel good after completing a difficult workout. And it is important to challenge our bodies in order to burn fat, gain muscle, and stay healthy. But, the hardest workout is not always the best. You should never feel like you are going to pass out or throw up from your workout. Muscle soreness the day after a tough workout is a good indication that your workout was too hard. Make sure that you feel comfortable with whatever workout you are trying to complete.
- Use proper form and safety. When using free weights or machines in the gym, it is important to put safety first. It is very easy to injure yourself if you don’t know what you are doing, use bad form, or use weights that are too heavy. The supervision of a professional trainer can reduce the risk of injury and make sure that you are getting the most out of your workout.
- Establishing a workout routine. There are certain exercises that will achieve certain results. If you have specific goals, a specific workout routine can help you reach that goal. One of our personal trainers can work with you to figure out the best workout routine for you.
- Finding the right workouts for you. Every person is different. There might be some types of exercises that are not right for your body type. It is important to have a professional help you determine the best and safest exercises for your weight, height, age, gender, body type, and more.
These are just a few of the factors that go into having an efficient and effective workout routine. We take your time in the gym seriously, and so should you!
